From Godzilla to Dr. Strangelove: How film and TV reflected and amplified America’s exprience of the Cold War. The bomb and nuclear energy have been the inspiration for comedy, propaganda, melodrama, satire, and more over the years, often as a response to current events, and sometimes anticipating them. As Americans dug fall-out shelters and their kids ducked under their desks in air-raid drills, Hollywood covered the entire human experience, well past the Cold War and into today’s time.
