Mystic Fall Favorites

It only comes once a year and breezes right by, but Fall in Mystic is a magical time to get outside, enjoy seasonal activities and get your fill of pumpkin spice and foliage. We partnered with Kristy Carmichael of Kristy & New England (@kristynewengland) to curate a list of some Mystic Fall Favorites…

1. B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill

Classic Mystic fall staple for cider donuts, slushies, hot apple cider and a bit of New England old time charm.

2. Mystic River Cruises

Catch a ride aboard an antique picnic boat and glide down the Mystic River taking in the shoreline’s fall foliage, historic district, Mystic Seaport Light, and Mystic River Bascule Bridge (the drawbridge). Bring a blanket for those crisp autumn days. Captain Eric offers a 9 AM and Fall sunset tours.

3. Whittle’s Farm

Whittle’s Willow Spring Farm stand, pumpkin patch, piglets, and a sweet spot for a family photo.

Normally Whittle’s offers Fall pick your own apples, but 2020 struck them with a bad season, so we wish them the best for 2021 season. You can still pick up some farm fresh apples by the bag.

4. Red 36

Eat, drink and take in the river views and even leaf peep from the deck of Red 36. Featured: Hot Chowder (clear or classic New England), Lobster Roll, and Autumn Sangria.

5. Whaler’s Inn

Relax and unwind at the Whaler’s. Book your stay at this cozy inn just steps from the drawbridge and all of Downtown Mystic’s shops and eateries.

6. The Shipwright’s Daughter

Located in the heart of Downtown Mystic within the Whaler’s Inn, Shipwright’s Daughter is the newest addition to Mystic’s growing food scene. The farm to fork restaurant’s menu offers a variety of coastal Connecticut inspired plates. Featured : Beet Pickled Deviled Eggs with crispy clam and cilantro, Fall Salad, Stuffed Honey Nut Squash.

7. Saltwater Farm Vineyard

Sip local at the vineyard. Grapes are harvested in the fall, so its a beautiful time to enjoy the grounds, and you can even share a charcuterie plate by A Thyme to Cook while supplies last. Otherwise, bring-your-own picnics are welcome. Pictured: The Pinot Noir Reserve.

8. Sift Bake Shop

A stop at Sift is a favorite any time of year, but you definitely want to see what kind of fall flavored goodies they have in shop.
