Mystic Stories: A Fall Weekend Getaway
A photographic story by visitors from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania
We booked our weekend getaway to Mystic, CT on a whim, hoping to enjoy some fall foliage and classic New England charm…and this quaint coastal town did not disappoint!
Along the Mystic River, the Seaport Museum brought maritime history to life as we strolled through the 19th century village and boarded the last whaling ship still afloat, the Charles W. Morgan.
The scent of apples filled the air as fresh cider was pressed at B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill. We could not decide between hot or cold, so we had one of each along with a bag of their homemade apple cider donuts!
As the sun set, we watched the sailboats drift along the coast. Thank you, Mystic, for our perfect little seaside adventure!

I visited Mystic this October. It was a quick, but wonderful, trip. My daughter and I went to see the ship my Daddy trained and sailed on in WWII, The Joseph Conrad at the Mystic Seaport Museum. It was a beautiful visit! We also visited Mystic Pizza, Old Mistick Village, and had a fabulous dinner at Latitude 41°. We stayed at the wonderful Mystic Inn. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip! I’m ready to go back!
The fact that you could see the ship your Dad was on is amazing! We also visited Latitude 41 and shared the world’s largest bowl of lobster bisque…heaven!
Beautiful blog, Willow Grove. Your descriptive narrative and gorgeous pictures make me want to pack my bags and start driving! We will definitely put Mystic on our travel calendar!
