Woodshop Basics: MAKE A CUTTING BOARD (3 part class)

Come to the Spark Woodshop to learn how to use various power tools and leave with a beautiful laminated wooden cutting board. Students participating in this class will be learning how to take surfaced lumber, create a cutting board of their own design, and execute the design using the various power tools available in the Spark Makerspace Woodshop. The teacher will guide the students on ripping and laminating strips of contrasting lumber (maple, walnut, and cherry), cutting the laminated stock to shape, and applying finish to the cutting board. Tools that students will be exposed to include table saw, chop saw, surface planer, bandsaw, and a router. All levels of woodworking experience are welcome. This class is intended to provide an introduction to using woodworking machines and provide guided experience on the equipment.
Ages 18+
This 3 part class takes place Thursday, May 26th, 6-9 PM, June 2nd, 6-9 PM, and June 9th, 6- 8 PM
at Spark Makerspace 7 Union St New London CT
Please note that this class may not run if it does not meet minimum enrollment. If this happens you will be contacted a week ahead of time.
$113 for Spark members; $137 for non-members
