Digital Program: Mystic Conversations on Race
05/17/2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeSt. Mark’s Anti-Racism Team holds a monthly intentional book club on the topic of racism. This intentional book club, Mystic Conversations on Race (MyCOR), is intended for people who understand that the toxicity of historic and contemporary racism must be confronted…in our hearts, in our minds, and in our communities.
In this book club, we will reflect on texts (fiction and nonfiction), films, and podcasts on the origins of race, the processes and effects of racism, and on white complicity and supremacy. We will be reading (among others) Toni Morrison, Ibram X. Kendi, Isabel Wilkerson, Dorothy Roberts, Imani Perry, and more. We will also be viewing/listening to films/podcasts by Katrina Browne, Ava Duvernay, and The New York Times’ “1619 Project.”
