Digital Program: Connecticut and the Pandemic of 1918
11/09/2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeJoin us with Walt Woodward, State Historian and Associate Professor of History at the University of Connecticut, to learn about the deadliest disease to ever hit Connecticut. The influenza pandemic of 1918, like COVID-19, stopped life as people knew it in its tracks. This topic was the subject of his recent podcast episode of “Grating the Nutmeg”, and asks questions we’re asking about today’s pandemic to the pandemic of a century ago. Where did it come from? How did it spread? Who did it affect the most? How did the medical community, state, and local governments respond to the threat? What social distancing measures were taken? After his presentation, there will be time for a question and answer session with participants.
Registration is required to attend this program. You will receive a Zoom invitation the morning of the program.
