5th Connecticut Regiment Encampment – Revolutionary War Reenactment
07/03/2022 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Kick off your 4th of July weekend with the sights and sounds of Continental and British soldiers during the Revolutionary War! Reenactors from the 5th CT Regiment and 54th Regiment will take over our quaint seaport town for a day. We invite audiences to witness what it was like to be a member of a Continental Regiment, serve as a British marine, or witness the conflict as a camp follower or civilian. These Regiments travel all over the East Coast, not only reenacting historic battles, but also demonstrating everyday activities like sewing and cooking. Join us on July 2nd to see them in action; learn how the Quartering Act impacted continental families, see what it was like to be a British marine aboard a ship, and learn about 18th century medical practices from a ship’s surgeon. Join in the celebratory parade at 12:00 as news of the signing of the Declaration of Independence reaches the seaport!
