Death in the Ice: The Mystery of the Franklin Expedition
December 1, 2018 – April 28, 2019
This exhibition holds a wealth of information surrounding one of the greatest maritime mysteries: The Franklin Expedition set out from England in 1845 to discover a Northwest Passage to Asia and did not return. Subsequent expeditions over decades failed to find the men or the two ships, HMS Erebus andHMS Terror. The recent discovery of both ships in 2014 and 2016 shed new light on the fate of the expedition and provided artifacts preserved on the sea floor.
