November 17 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
NEW LONDON, Conn.—Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Leamy Hall at the United States Coast Guard Academy, the Coast Guard Band presents “Tempus Fugit.” Join us for a stirring concert celebrating the vastness of time and space under the baton of Captain Adam Williamson.
Jay Kennedy’s “Catapult” opens the performance with a burst of energy, followed by Felix Mendelssohn’s bustling “Scherzo” from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The iconically brisk “Molly on the Shore” by Percy Grainger precedes the newly commissioned alto saxophone concerto “Time Unfolding” by Alexandra Gardner, featuring soloist Senior Chief Musician Joshua Thomas. Pierre Leemans’ charming concert march “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” is next, and the emotional and retrospective “Rudolf and Jeanette” by Gerard Schwarz follows. Paul Hindemith’s thrilling “March” from Symphonic Metamorphosis closes the program.
