MYSTIC CONTRA DANCE “The Pie Dance”, Sat. 02/25/2023
● NEW TIME: Dance 7:30-10:30pm [Intro session 7:15 pm] ● WHERE: Groton Center’s community meeting hall @ 102 Newtown Road, Groton, CT 06340.
● ROLE TERMS: “Ladies & Gents” or “Women and Men” and anyone is welcome to dance whatever role they wish as all are accepted!
● CALLER: Tod Whittemore. Tod has been calling contras and squares for more than 40 years. He is a favorite dance caller and the founder of the “NEFFA Thursday Night Contra Dance” back in the late 1970s. Tod Whittemore is well-known for his yodeling squares. This will be quite a treat!
● LIVE MUSIC: “Dogtown”. comprised of Becky Miller (fiddle, piano) and Norb Spencer (accordion) and possibly one other.
● HOMEMADE PIE! This month we offer cherry and chocolate pies! These delicious pies are offered at the break for $3/slice help support the band and caller.
● COVID: We require sign-in and contact information for notification. Vaccinations are encouraged though not required. Masks: are optional and always welcome.
● ADMISSION: $10 adults, $7 students. & Donations gratefully accepted!
● CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual, layers are best for this invigorating exercise. Please wear non-street shoes that move easily on the floor (rubber soled sneaker are discouraged but some do wear them even though it makes dancing a bit harder).
● PARKING: Plenty of parking in the large parking area next to the building!
