Moving to Mystic
MMoA’s year of Migration culminates in an exhibition celebrating the historic artists who made the bold decision to uproot their lives and join the Mystic art colony. These artists took a risk in divorcing themselves from the major centers of commerce and patronage to pursue artistic careers in a small shipbuilding town and, in so doing, forged an artistic legacy that resonates in Mystic to this day. Featuring pieces from our permanent collection and on loan from sister institutions and private collections, Moving to Mystic includes works by: Ken and Gladys Bates, Lester D. Boronda, Charles H. Davis, Katherine Forrest, Agnes Harrison Lincoln, Minnie Negoro, Olaf Olsen, Herbert Morton Stoops, and more.
