Kojicon 2024: Presence, Place, Possibility
February 19 - March 3
The Yellow Farmhouse Education Center, a nonprofit organization based on Stone Acres Farm in Stonington, CT is excited to announce their 4th annual, globally attended virtual conference, Kojicon 2024: Presence, Place, Possibility, which takes place February 19 – March 3, 2024. Koji experts and food makers from across the globe will gather to virtually share their passion for mold-based fermentation during this two-week conference.
Fermentation begins with the presence of the vibrant microbial communities found in our surroundings, on our bodies, and within the very ingredients we use. Yet it‘s the marriage of this microbial dance with our personal connection to place that sparks the flames of creativity and builds community. This year, our interactive programming will explore the limitless possibilities that arise when we intentionally weave together the threads of presence and place.
This virtual conference typically draws over 1000 participants worldwide, with representation from over 60 countries and nearly every state in the US. Kojicon is planned in partnership with and curated by Rich Shih, fermentation expert and co-author of “Koji Alchemy.”
Kojicon 2024 presenters include authors and fermenters David Zilber, Arielle Johnson, and Marika Groen, spirit and beverage producers Leslie Merinoff, Esther Merino, and Alice Jun, artisan makers Ozzy Hsieh, Rogimar Alvarado Garcia, Tiffany Lay, and Zo Lin, scientists and researchers Richard Preiss and Curro Polo, and chefs Jeremy Umansky, Mara Jane King, Julián Otero, Pao Liu, and more.
The sliding scale ticket pricing reflects the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center’s commitment towards community building and inclusion. The Community Ticket ($30) is a reduced price ticket for those with a financial need and is made possible due to the generosity of Sponsors and those who purchase the Supporter Ticket ($140). The Sustainer Ticket ($70) is the regular priced ticket.
The Yellow Farmhouse Education Center is a non-profit, 501c3 located in Stonington, CT. Our mission is to connect people to each other and to where their food comes from through food and farm-based education.
