Let’s venture into shark infested waters with award-winning marine conservation biologist Dr. David Shiffman to learn more about the world of sharks and their importance to the planet. Dr. Shiffman will share his first-hand experience studying sharks in their natural habitat as he discusses why sharks are threatened, the benefits they bring to our ocean ecosystem, and how public misconceptions can harm efforts to protect them.
Dr. Shiffman is an interdisciplinary marine conservation biologist, specializing in shark ecology and conservation. He is a staff researcher at the Marine Stewardship Council and a Research Associate at Arizona State University. He is currently wrapping up a tour for his book Why Sharks Matter: A Deep Dive with the World’s Most Misunderstood Predator.

*This program is a hybrid program – tickets are available to participate through Zoom or in-person in the Masin Room at Mystic Seaport Museum. If you register for the virtual program, you will be sent the link once your registration is processed.
About the Series: Adventure Series connects audiences with individuals who have extraordinary maritime stories to tell. This year’s series will take place in the Cutter Room at the Hilton Mystic, with the exception of the April 21 afternoon program which will be held in the Masin Room at Mystic Seaport Museum.
