90th Anniversary of the Knickerbocker Café with the Award Winning Knickerbocker All-Stars
Join us in celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Knickerbocker Cafe, with the award winning Knickerbocker All Stars. Built in 1933, shortly after the end of Prohibition, the club became a mecca for the blues, hosting such greats as, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Roomful of Blues. Fast forward and the Cafe has become the Knickerbocker Music Center, a nonprofit, with a mission to cultivate, celebrate and teach Westerly blues, and other music genre’s in coordination with our sister organization, the United Theatre.
The Knickerbocker All Stars are a 9-piece band made up of the most talented professional musicians in the New England area. The band celebrates the 50s, 60s and 70s Rhythm & Blues, Jump Blues, Swing, Blues and Soul, all of which made the Knickerbocker Music Center a mecca of dance music known throughout the world since its beginnings The All Stars have recorded and performed with such popular musicians and vocalists as: Marcia Ball, Jimmie Vaughan, Sugaray Rayford, Thornetta Davis, and Curtis Salgaldo, to name a few.
The band members include: Brian Templeton – Vocals & Harmonica, Jeffrey “Doc” Chanonhouse – Trumpet, Arranger & Director, Rich Lataille – Tenor & Alto Saxophones, Arranger. Ricky “King” Russell – Guitar and Vocals, Dickie Reed – Keyboards, Bob Worthington – Bass, Chris Anzalone – Drums, Carl Querfurth – Trombone, Rob Lee – Baritone sax.
The lineup of professional musicians of the Knickerbocker All Stars are Grammy and Blues Music Award (BMA) nominees and winners. The band has been nominated for a BMA for best soul blues album of 2018 and has climbed the radio charts reaching #1 on the Living Blues Charts.
Their extended bios are as varied as their sound – a melange of swing, soul and straight up blues.
