New this year, OMV is giving out door prizes for those who have extra tickets. Door prizes will be announced at 4:30 p.m. at the gazebo.
All proceeds for this event benefit Always Home a non-profit service agency dedicated to preventing family homelessness throughout Eastern CT. For the past 20 years Always Home, (Formally Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality M.A.S.H.), has provided case management services and emergency housing assistance to local families at risk of homelessness. Each year Always home prevents hundreds of families from becoming homeless and helps them sustain housing. Their organization believes it is always in the best interest of the family, particularly young children, to avoid the trauma of emergency shelter. That is why the mission focuses on preventing homelessness. Always Home, works to find families safe, secure housing with the supportive services necessary to achieve long-term housing stability.
This day will be filled with family fun and community support! Many of the area’s finest restaurants and caterers will serve up their signature chowder from the warmth of sponsorship shops in Olde Mistick Village. A team of local judges at the event will choose the winners in three categories 1) Most Creative Chowder 2) Heartiest Chowder 3) Best use of regional ingredients. The public will vote for the winner of the coveted “People’s Choice Award” for the Best Chowder Category. All awards will be presented in the meeting house/chapel, in Olde Mistick Village at 5:00pm.
Chowder tickets are $2 for each 3 oz. cup of Chowder, or you may purchase 12 tickets for just $20. Tickets will be on sale the day of the event throughout the village in various store locations. Tickets do not go on sale until 11:30 am. All proceeds from the event benefit Always Home. In the past 17 years Olde Mistick Village has donated $5,000 to over $20,000 in proceeds each year. We are so excited after having to take 2021 and 2022 off due to Covid/Corona Virus to be able to offer this much needed event for 2023.
With the generous participation of Olde Mistick Village Shops and Local Restaurants, Always Home Volunteers, Management of Olde Mistick Village, and the support of our patrons and community, the Cabin Fever and Charity Cook-Off will help many families in need. We hope you will join us in supporting this worthy cause.
