2017 Enders Island Golf Classic

The fourteenth annual Enders Island Golf Classic will take place at Elmridge Golf Course on Wednesday, September 28, 2017 with a shotgun start at 12pm. The day will feature golfing, door prizes, giveaways, and two fantastic meals. This year, 13-year veteran Committee Chair Paul Delaney of Masons Island hands over the reins to Tom Gram, also of Masons Island. Gram is a longtime supporter of Enders Island and an avid golfer.

“It has been an honor to serve as the Golf Classic committee chair for 13 years,” said Delaney. “It is such a positive experience to help support all they do at Enders Island. I know we are in good hands with Tom, and I look forward to supporting him this year.”

The funds raised at the Golf Classic directly benefit the recovery program at Enders Island. Here, young men ages 18 to 30 learn to live a life in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. These young men are active members of the community, often attending college classes, working, or volunteering throughout the area. Members of the recovery community at Enders Island have gone on to lead successful lives of sobriety.

Father Thomas F.X. Hoar, SSE, President of Enders Island, is humbled by the generosity of everyone involved in the Golf Classic. “At Enders Island, we are truly grateful for the community’s support and thankful that their contributions help young men on their paths to leading fulfilling lives free from addiction,” he says.

St. Edmund’s Retreat at Enders Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Mystic, Connecticut focused on recovery, spiritual well-being and educational programming. The eleven-acre island was once the private estate of Dr. Thomas Enders and his wife Alys, and was given to the Society of St. Edmund in January 1954. Today, Enders Island features the early 20th-century mansion, as well as an exquisite chapel and gardens.
