We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker is Takashi Sato of San-J. His family has been making Tamari Soy Sauce for over 200 years. He is the 8th generation member of the founding family. During lunch\, we will host a fermentation swap\, providing the opportunity to meet other fermenters\, hear about\, taste and swap ferments and ideas. Hands on workshops include: Rich Shih\, Koji Alchemy Pia Sorenson\, Science and Cooking: From Haute Cuisine to Soft Matter Science Jeremy Kean\, Brassica Kitchen + Cafe Peter Barret\, Food Writer Tara Whitsitt\, Drifter Ferments Alice Jun\, Hana Makgeolli Justin Brody\, Port of Call There will be a panel discussion with each of the presenters to discuss the future and power of fermentation. DESCRIPTION:Join Yellow Farmhouse on Saturday\, November 4 for our first ever FermenTour: Beverage Edition! \nAs part of our Culinary Excursion Program\, we’ll visit local food artisans to get a behind the scenes in-depth look at the work that they do\, exploring fermented beverages from spirits to beer to amazake and kombucha. The tour begins at the Yellow Farmhouse with an overview of fermentation by Rich Shih\, author of Koji Alchemy and Harry Rosenblum\, author of Vinegar Revival. Next stop on the tour is a fermentation inspired lunch at the Treehouse in Mystic. Two more stops on the tour include Veritable Distillery and Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island\, where fermented snacks will be featured. The tour begins and ends at the Yellow Farmhouse\, 11am – 5pm\, with transportation being provided on a yellow school bus. Tickets are $250. SUMMARY:Summer Mornings on the Farm
DESCRIPTION:Summer is a busy and beautiful season on the farm! The gorgeous campus of Stone Acres Farm will be our classroom in this outdoor program designed for children aged 6-10. Join us to explore the woodlands and meadows\, tend to our vegetable patch\, care for the chickens\, explore the fish in the trout pond\, and more. Children will also harvest fresh vegetables and herbs and use them to prepare delicious snacks. \nPrograms will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays\, July 6th through August 26th. Children can attend the morning (9-11A) or afternoon session (1-3PM) and can register for programs a la carte or as a series. The activities will be different on Tuesdays and Thursdays but will repeat for the morning and afternoon. So\, feel free to sign up for a Tuesday and Thursday class – but not for a morning and afternoon.

DESCRIPTION:The Yellow Farmhouse Education Center is hosting a virtual screening of the new documentary film Gather. Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual\, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty\, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide. Registrants will be sent a link to view the film at their leisure\, as well as a second link to join a Virtual Program on Tuesday\, December 8th at 6pm with local indigenous educator and food anthropologist Rachel-Beth Sayet.
