SUMMARY:THE UNITED: Caro Claire Burke (Yesteryear) Author Talk and Signing
DESCRIPTION:Bank Square Books and The United Theatre present an author talk and signing with Caro Claire Burke for her book\, Yesteryear. \nTICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT. Doors open at 6:00PM. \nGet Tickets \nAbout the Book \nA traditional American woman\, a beautiful wife and mother who sells her pioneer lifestyle of raw milk and farm-fresh eggs to her millions of social media followers\, suddenly awakens cold\, filthy\, and terrified in the brutal reality of 1805—where she must unravel whether this living nightmare is an elaborate hoax\, a twisted reality show\, or something far more sinister in this sensational debut novel. \nMy name was Natalie Heller Mills\, and I was perfect at being alive. \nNatalie lives a traditional lifestyle. Her charming farmhouse is rustic\, her husband a handsome cowboy\, her six children each more delightful than the last. So what if there are nannies and producers behind the scenes\, her kitchen hiding industrial-grade fridges and ovens\, her husband the Republican equivalent of a Kennedy? What Natalie’s followers—all 8 million of them—don’t know won’t hurt them. And The Angry Women? The privileged\, Ivy League\, coastal elite haters who call her an antifeminist iconoclast? They’re sick with jealousy. Because Natalie isn’t simply living the good life\, she’s living the ideal—and just so happens to be building an empire from it. \nUntil one morning\, she wakes up in a life that isn’t hers. Her home\, her husband\, her children—they’re all familiar\, but something’s off. Her kitchen is warmed by a sputtering fire rather than electricity\, her children are dirty and strange\, and her soft-handed husband is suddenly a competent farmer. Just yesterday\, Natalie was curating photos of homemade jam for her Instagram\, and now she’s expected to haul firewood and handwash clothes until her fingers bleed. Has she become the unwitting star of a brutal reality show? Could it really be time travel? Is she being tested by God? By Satan? When Natalie suffers a brutal injury in the woods\, she realizes two things: This is not her beautiful life\, and she must escape by any means possible. \nA gripping\, electrifying novel that is as darkly funny as it is frightening\, Yesteryear is a gimlet-eyed look at tradition\, fame\, faith\, and the grand performance of womanhood. \nAbout the Author \nCaro Claire Burke received her Master’s in Fine Arts from the Bennington Writing Seminars. She is the co-host of Diabolical Lies\, a politics and culture podcast. Yesteryear is her first novel.

April 7th at The United–tickets on sale now LINK IN BIO. Singers and guitarists Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan of The Milk Carton Kids “have been known to argue about everything from wardrobe to geography to grammar. But their singing is the place where they make room for each other and the shared identity that rises out of their combined voices. Fans of Godzilla\, Jurassic Park\, and any creature tale will not want to miss Scalzi’s take on the monsters of unusual size. When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City\, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food delivery apps. That is\, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance\, Tom\, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization.” Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie\, eager to do anything\, immediately signs on.What Tom doesn’t tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth\, at least. It’s not just the Kaiju Preservation Society who have found their way to the alternate world. Others have\, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die. With his trademark imagination and wit\, John Scalzi turns a pandemic story into not only an addictive escapist adventure\, but an examination of what it means to survive against all odds. THE KAIJU PRESERVATION SOCIETY is full of relatable and strong characters\, fascinating gigantic creatures\, and a world so fully realized that readers will be wondering if there really are Kaiju hiding in an alternate dimension under Iceland. \nAbout John Scalzi\nJOHN SCALZI is one of the most popular SF authors to emerge in the last decade. SUMMARY:Kevin Hearne\, Delilah S. Dawson & Chuck Wendig Speculative Fiction Author Panel at The United Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Savoy Bookshop & Café presents an author panel at The United Theater with Kevine Hearne (Hounded)\, Delilah S. Dawson (The Iron Druid Chronicles Series)\, and Chuck Wendig (The Book of Accidents). \nAbout Hounded: The Iron Druid Chronicles Series Book 1\nThe first novel in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles—the hilarious\, action-packed tales of a two-thousand-year-old Druid pursued by ancient gods in the modern world \n“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud-funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.”—Ari Marmell\, author of The Warlord’s Legacy \nAtticus O’Sullivan is the last of the ancient druids. He has been on the run for more than two thousand years and he’s tired of it. The Irish gods who want to kill him are after an enchanted sword he stole in a first-century battle\, and when they find him managing an occult bookshop in Tempe\, Arizona\, Atticus doesn’t want to uproot his life again. He just wants everything to end one way or another\, but preferably the way in which he can continue to enjoy fish and chips. \nHe does have some small hope of survival: The Morrigan\, the Irish Chooser of the Slain\, is on his side\, and so is Brighid\, First Among the Fae. His lawyer is literally a bloodsucking vampire\, and he has a loyal Irish wolfhound with opinions about poodles. \nBut he’s facing down some mighty enemies: Aenghus Óg\, a vengeful Irish god\, plus a coven of witches and even the local police. On top of all that\, Aenghus has a direct line to the firepower of hell. Atticus will need all the luck of the Irish and more if he’s going to stay alive. \nAbout The Violence\nThree generations of abused women must navigate their chilling new reality as a mysterious epidemic of violence sweeps the nation in this compelling novel of self-discovery\, legacy\, and hope. \n“A gorgeously creative and surprisingly gleeful story about the way violence infects every aspect of American life.”—Sarah Langan\, author of Good Neighbors \n“A novel that defines this era.”—Stephen Graham Jones\, New York Times bestselling author of The Only Good Indians \nONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2022—CrimeReads \nWhen Chelsea Martin kisses her husband hello at the door of their perfect home\, a chilled bottle of beer in hand and dinner on the table\, she may look like the ideal wife\, mother\, and homemaker—but in fact she’s following an unwritten rulebook\, carefully navigating David’s stormy moods in a desperate nightly bid to avoid catastrophe. If family time doesn’t go exactly the way David wants\, bad things happen—to Chelsea\, and to the couple’s seventeen-year-old daughter\, Ella. Cut off from all support\, controlled and manipulated for years\, Chelsea has no resources and no one to turn to. Her wealthy\, narcissistic mother\, Patricia\, would rather focus on the dust on her chandelier than acknowledge Chelsea’s bruises. After all\, Patricia’s life looks perfect on the surface\, too. \nBut the façade crumbles when a mysterious condition overtakes the nation. Known as the Violence\, it causes the infected to experience sudden\, explosive bursts of animalistic rage and attack anyone in their path. The ensuing chaos brings opportunity for Chelsea—and inspires a plan to liberate herself and her family once and for all. \nAbout The Book of Accidents\nNATIONAL BESTSELLER • A family returns to their hometown—and to the dark past that haunts them still—in this masterpiece of literary horror by the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderers \n“The dread\, the scope\, the pacing\, the turns—I haven’t felt all this so intensely since The Shining.”—Stephen Graham Jones\, New York Times bestselling author of The Only Good Indians \nNAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY AND LIBRARY JOURNAL \nLong ago\, Nathan lived in a house in the country with his abusive father—and has never told his family what happened there. \nLong ago\, Maddie was a little girl making dolls in her bedroom when she saw something she shouldn’t have—and is trying to remember that lost trauma by making haunting sculptures. \nLong ago\, something sinister\, something hungry\, walked in the tunnels and the mountains and the coal mines of their hometown in rural Pennsylvania. \nNow\, Nate and Maddie Graves are married\, and they have moved back to their hometown with their son\, Oliver. \nAnd now what happened long ago is happening again . . . and it is happening to Oliver. He meets a strange boy who becomes his best friend\, a boy with secrets of his own and a taste for dark magic. \nThis dark magic puts them at the heart of a battle of good versus evil and a fight for the soul of the family—and perhaps for all of the world. But the Graves family has a secret weapon in this battle: their love for one another. \nAbout Kevin Hearne\nKevin Hearne hugs trees\, pets doggies\, and rocks out to heavy metal. He also thinks tacos are a pretty nifty idea. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Iron Druid Chronicles\, the Ink & Sigil series\, and the Seven \nAbout Delilah Dawson\nDelilah S. Dawson is the author of the New York Times bestseller Star Wars: Phasma\, Hit\, Servants of the Storm\, the Blud series\, the creator-owned comics Ladycastle and Sparrowhawk\, and the Shadow series (written as Lila Bowen). She lives in Florida with her family and a fat mutt named Merle. \nAbout Chuck Wendig\nChuck Wendig is the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderers\, The Book of Accidents\, and more than two dozen other books for adults and young adults. A finalist for the Astounding Award and an alum of the Sundance Screenwriters Lab\, he has also written comics and games\, and for film and television.
