SUMMARY:The Sixth Annual Stonington Borough Art Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for The Sixth Annual Stonington Borough Art Walk on Saturday\, September 14th! The Art Walk is an annual event held in mid-September hosted by the Stonington Borough Merchants Association. The one-day fair features the best of Southeastern Connecticut’s and Southern Rhode Island’s art scene\, acoustic musical performances\, the Borough’s shops\, cultural assets\, restaurants\, and food vendors. The event is free to the public and attracts visitors from across New England and beyond. \nThe event has quickly become known as a mecca for great local art and art-loving patrons. The goal is quality over quantity — a well-curated assortment of less than 100 painters\, illustrators\, watercolorists\, sculptors\, potters\, makers\, and photographers — lining Water Street with tents and tables\, stretching all the way down to Cannon Square. \nThere are many art-related activities as well: There’s a roving performance artist\, tours and exhibits at The Captain Palmer House\, The Lighthouse Museum\, The James Merrill House\, La Grua Center\, The Velvet Mill\, and The Stonington Free Library (which also provides free activities for the kids)\, and a delightful scavenger hunt\, The Glaze Vase Project\, thanks to local potter and Art Walk participant\, Lyndsay Meiklem Dean of Glaze Handmade. Lyndsay hides tiny vases throughout the Borough for seekers to find. DESCRIPTION:GARDENS BY THE SEA\nPresented by: The Stonington Garden Club\nDates: June 10\, 11 – 2022\nWhere: Stonington Connecticut \nThe Stonington Garden Club is pleased to present Gardens by the Sea\, a walking tour of nine gardens behind the walls and gates of Stonington Borough’s historic properties. “Artists in the Borough\,” a unique highlight of the 2022 tour\, will feature New England “plein air” artists\, who will draw inspiration from our seaside village gardens and landscapes. The tented Marketplace\, located on Wadawanuck Square\, will have a variety of vendors offering garden accessories\, plants\, crafts\, clothing\, jewelry\, and home decorating gift items. New to this year’s tour is our Celebrity Speaker\, Charlie Nardozzi\, award winning garden rite\, speaker \, radio and television personality\, who will speak each day from 1-2 pm at the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club. In addition\, a special Preview Event will be held Thursday June 9\, Both of these events are ticketed separately\, Gardens by the Sea will be open each day from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm\, rain or shine.
