SUMMARY:Lantern Light Tours
DESCRIPTION:For the 40th Anniversary of the Museum’s Lantern Light Tours\, tour-goers will immediately recognize the influences of that most Victorian of Christmas tales\, Charles Dickens’s 1843 A Christmas Carol. They are asked by Mallory’s Ghost to help save his partner\, Mr. Blackburn\, from his miserable\, loveless life\, which will in turn save Greenmanville from becoming an expanse of deserted shipyards. Even though the tour guide is excited – and determined! – to live out the plot of Dickens’s story step by faithful step\, and learns that it is love that transcends time and place which will save both Christmas and 1876 Greenmanville. \nEach performance of Lantern Light Tours is an approximately 70-minute progressive or travelling play that covers approximately half a mile of uneven terrain including cobblestone\, wood planking\, grass\, gravel\, and stairs. Audience members walk or stand for the majority of the show. Because performances occur in all weather conditions\, we strongly recommend the use of seasonal outerwear and appropriate shoes. \nPerformances of Lantern Light Tours require a special ticket in lieu of general admission. Each tour is limited to 16 people. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as tours may fill quickly. Rounding the corner\, you may see a herd of electric guitarists\, a choir of medieval singers\, or a percussive Puerto Rican parade coming down the street.  \nMystic is part of International Make Music Day for the second year with a music and trivia-inspired pub crawl at four locations – Harp & Hound\, Friar Tuck’s Tavern\, Water Street Tavern and Captain Daniel Packer Inne. All within walking distance of each other in Historic Downtown Mystic. Each participating pub will have materials available for pick up\, pub crawlers may pick up at any location but must end the evening at Captain Daniel Packer Inne for prizes. \nWith music at the center of the celebration\, each venue offers terrific talent from local musicians. Happy and the Moonshine are featured at Harp & Hound; Marty & Friends at Water Street Tavern; J. Krak and Cairo at Friar Tuck’s Tavern and James Harris at Captain Daniel Packer Inne. \nHappy and the Moonshine’s repertoire is an eclectic mix of music from the past nine decades! Marty  becomes the heart of any band he plays with  – shredding on bass and writing fantastic lyrics and music. He brings friends together to create a fantastic sound! \nJ-Krak & Cairo are a two-man band covering “greatest hits” nostalgia from the 70s – 00s. They are known for their huge repertoire and comedic banter as well as their “all-request” shtick. \nJames Harris  is a guitarist and vocalist with over 20 years of experience. He specializes in acoustic classic and\nmodern rock and plays all over New England.  James Graduated from Berklee College Of Music in Boston. He teaches electric\, acoustic\, and classical guitar and music theory to students of all ages at his studio in Stonington. \nIn addition to the music\, participants will answer trivia questions; enjoy a beverage; do a small scavenger hunt style game and interact with the musicians at each venue. Even though the tour guide is excited – and determined! – to live out the plot of Dickens’s story step by faithful step\, and learns that it is love that transcends time and place which will save both Christmas and 1876 Greenmanville. \nEach performance of Lantern Light Tours is an approximately 70-minute progressive or travelling play that covers approximately half a mile of uneven terrain including cobblestone\, wood planking\, grass\, gravel\, and stairs. Audience members walk or stand for the majority of the show. Because performances occur in all weather conditions\, we strongly recommend the use of seasonal outerwear and appropriate shoes. \nPerformances of Lantern Light Tours require a special ticket in lieu of general admission. Each tour is limited to 16 people. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as tours may fill quickly.
