SUMMARY:Kevin Hearne\, Delilah S. Dawson & Chuck Wendig Speculative Fiction Author Panel at The United Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Savoy Bookshop & Café presents an author panel at The United Theater with Kevine Hearne (Hounded)\, Delilah S. Dawson (The Iron Druid Chronicles Series)\, and Chuck Wendig (The Book of Accidents). \nAbout Hounded: The Iron Druid Chronicles Series Book 1\nThe first novel in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles—the hilarious\, action-packed tales of a two-thousand-year-old Druid pursued by ancient gods in the modern world \n“A page-turning and often laugh-out-loud-funny caper through a mix of the modern and the mythic.”—Ari Marmell\, author of The Warlord’s Legacy \nAtticus O’Sullivan is the last of the ancient druids. He has been on the run for more than two thousand years and he’s tired of it. The Irish gods who want to kill him are after an enchanted sword he stole in a first-century battle\, and when they find him managing an occult bookshop in Tempe\, Arizona\, Atticus doesn’t want to uproot his life again. He just wants everything to end one way or another\, but preferably the way in which he can continue to enjoy fish and chips. \nHe does have some small hope of survival: The Morrigan\, the Irish Chooser of the Slain\, is on his side\, and so is Brighid\, First Among the Fae. His lawyer is literally a bloodsucking vampire\, and he has a loyal Irish wolfhound with opinions about poodles. \nBut he’s facing down some mighty enemies: Aenghus Óg\, a vengeful Irish god\, plus a coven of witches and even the local police. On top of all that\, Aenghus has a direct line to the firepower of hell. Atticus will need all the luck of the Irish and more if he’s going to stay alive. \nAbout The Violence\nThree generations of abused women must navigate their chilling new reality as a mysterious epidemic of violence sweeps the nation in this compelling novel of self-discovery\, legacy\, and hope. \n“A gorgeously creative and surprisingly gleeful story about the way violence infects every aspect of American life.”—Sarah Langan\, author of Good Neighbors \n“A novel that defines this era.”—Stephen Graham Jones\, New York Times bestselling author of The Only Good Indians \nONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2022—CrimeReads \nWhen Chelsea Martin kisses her husband hello at the door of their perfect home\, a chilled bottle of beer in hand and dinner on the table\, she may look like the ideal wife\, mother\, and homemaker—but in fact she’s following an unwritten rulebook\, carefully navigating David’s stormy moods in a desperate nightly bid to avoid catastrophe. If family time doesn’t go exactly the way David wants\, bad things happen—to Chelsea\, and to the couple’s seventeen-year-old daughter\, Ella. Cut off from all support\, controlled and manipulated for years\, Chelsea has no resources and no one to turn to. Her wealthy\, narcissistic mother\, Patricia\, would rather focus on the dust on her chandelier than acknowledge Chelsea’s bruises. After all\, Patricia’s life looks perfect on the surface\, too. \nBut the façade crumbles when a mysterious condition overtakes the nation. Known as the Violence\, it causes the infected to experience sudden\, explosive bursts of animalistic rage and attack anyone in their path. The ensuing chaos brings opportunity for Chelsea—and inspires a plan to liberate herself and her family once and for all. \nAbout The Book of Accidents\nNATIONAL BESTSELLER • A family returns to their hometown—and to the dark past that haunts them still—in this masterpiece of literary horror by the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderers \n“The dread\, the scope\, the pacing\, the turns—I haven’t felt all this so intensely since The Shining.”—Stephen Graham Jones\, New York Times bestselling author of The Only Good Indians \nNAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY AND LIBRARY JOURNAL \nLong ago\, Nathan lived in a house in the country with his abusive father—and has never told his family what happened there. \nLong ago\, Maddie was a little girl making dolls in her bedroom when she saw something she shouldn’t have—and is trying to remember that lost trauma by making haunting sculptures. \nLong ago\, something sinister\, something hungry\, walked in the tunnels and the mountains and the coal mines of their hometown in rural Pennsylvania. \nNow\, Nate and Maddie Graves are married\, and they have moved back to their hometown with their son\, Oliver. \nAnd now what happened long ago is happening again . . . and it is happening to Oliver. He meets a strange boy who becomes his best friend\, a boy with secrets of his own and a taste for dark magic. \nThis dark magic puts them at the heart of a battle of good versus evil and a fight for the soul of the family—and perhaps for all of the world. But the Graves family has a secret weapon in this battle: their love for one another. \nAbout Kevin Hearne\nKevin Hearne hugs trees\, pets doggies\, and rocks out to heavy metal. He also thinks tacos are a pretty nifty idea. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Iron Druid Chronicles\, the Ink & Sigil series\, and the Seven \nAbout Delilah Dawson\nDelilah S. Dawson is the author of the New York Times bestseller Star Wars: Phasma\, Hit\, Servants of the Storm\, the Blud series\, the creator-owned comics Ladycastle and Sparrowhawk\, and the Shadow series (written as Lila Bowen). She lives in Florida with her family and a fat mutt named Merle. \nAbout Chuck Wendig\nChuck Wendig is the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderers\, The Book of Accidents\, and more than two dozen other books for adults and young adults. A finalist for the Astounding Award and an alum of the Sundance Screenwriters Lab\, he has also written comics and games\, and for film and television. He’s known for his popular blog\, terribleminds\, and books about writing such as Damn Fine Story. He lives in Bucks County\, Pennsylvania\, with his family.

SUMMARY:Peter Swanson (Nine Lives) in Conversation with Liv Constantine Virtual Author Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join us virtually for an author talk and Q&A with Peter Swanson for the book Nine Lives! Peter will be in conversation with Liv Constantine. \nAbout the Book\nIf you’re on the list\, someone wants you dead. \nFrom the New York Times bestselling author of Eight Perfect Murders comes the heart-pounding story of nine strangers who receive a cryptic list with their names on it—and then begin to die in highly unusual circumstances. \nNine strangers receive a list with their names on it in the mail. Nothing else\, just a list of names on a single sheet of paper. None of the nine people know or have ever met the others on the list. Then\, a father is shot in the back while running through his quiet neighborhood in suburban Massachusetts. A frightening pattern is emerging\, but what do these nine people have in common? Their professions range from oncology nurse to aspiring actor\, and they’re located all over the country. So why are they all on the list\, and who sent it? \nFBI agent Jessica Winslow\, who is on the list herself\, is determined to find out. Could there be some dark secret that binds them all together? Or is this the work of a murderous madman? As the mysterious sender stalks these nine strangers\, they find themselves constantly looking over their shoulders\, wondering who will be crossed off next… \nAbout Peter Swanson\nPeter Swanson is the author of seven novels\, including The Kind Worth Killing\, winner of the New England Society Book Award\, and finalist for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger; Her Every Fear\, an NPR book of the year; Before She Knew Him\, and Eight Perfect Murders. SUMMARY:Paul Dunion (Wisdom: Apprenticing to the Unknown and Befriending Fate) Author Talk at Bank Square Books
DESCRIPTION:Bank Square Books presents an author talk and Q&A with Paul Dunion for the new book\, Wisdom: Apprenticing to the Unknown and Befriending Fate. \nAbout the Book\nIt may be time to let go of the naivete that our technological devices will magically reveal the nature of absolute truth\, or that some alluring formula will serve our need for immediate gratification and penetrate life’s mysteries. We seem to have forgotten that it is by the light of wisdom that we begin to understand who we are and make some sense of the journey we call life. \nWisdom – Apprenticing to the Unknown and Befriending Fate tells a story of what it means to apprentice to the unknown. It offers a strong plea – stop trying to get life right and allow life to get you right. \nSuch an allowance happens over time as the ego comes to know defeat and the illusion of its sovereignty. The wisdom path must be walked with curiosity and honesty\, letting ourselves admit that we are employing some form of bypass that can allegedly circumvent life’s unpredictability and insecurity. Apprentices become increasingly informed by letting go of what is out of their control and learning to find the courage to address what is in their control. The reader learns what it means to remain a student of life\, less enamored with being impressive\, and as the need to perform and achieve atrophy\, gains a devout receptivity to all that fate desires to teach. Wisdom is a verb. It is the apprenticing in a constant state of inquiry. \nAbout Paul Dunion\nOften described as an eclectic mystic\, Paul’s tagline is “making peace with mystery.” His legacy of being a Celtic storyteller has gifted him as a writer and muse. He brings his 40-year background as a psychological healer and philosopher to examining in his blogs and books the kinds of life choices that can yield the wisdom path. \nHe has received high praise from Writers Digest Self-Published Book Awards for his previous book Seekers as well as a Reader’s Favorite 5-Star Review for his newly-released Wisdom\, focusing on what it means to see life as offering an Initiation\, guiding and challenging us to find our way to our own depths.
