Wooden boats of every type—large and small\, old and new\, power\, sail\, oar and paddle—will be on display\, including cruising yachts\, launches\, runabouts\, fishing boats\, performance powerboats\, daysailers\, dinghies\, rowboats\, canoes\, performance shells\, multi-hulls and racing boats. \nLearn new skills at demonstrations and workshops throughout the weekend. Shop exhibitors’ booths and find everything you need to outfit your boat. Vendors will offer items for sale including maritime art\, antiques\, tools\, books\, nautical gear\, and more. \nThose interested in the construction of smaller boats can stop by the Family BoatBuilding tent\, where families and teams will work to build their own canoe or skiff during the weekend. Purchased kits are opened at 9 a.m. Friday morning and tools are put down around 3 p.m. Sunday\, leaving\, in most cases\, a boat awaiting only final finish work. Some boats will be launched at the Show.

DESCRIPTION:Sing along to Celtic Favorites with harpist Debbie Vinick!\nJoin us for a night of Celtic music and song with Connecticut harpist Debbie Vinick! Debbie received her masters from Yale School of Music and has performed with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. Debbie has an extensive repertoire of classical\, Irish\, popular\, and Broadway music. She frequently hears\, “I didn’t know you could play that on the harp!” \nThis concert is the final performance of the library’s 2017 Roode Memorial Concert Series. \nLongtime Mystic Resident Agnes Driscoll Roode passed away in December 2014. She was born in Massachusetts where\, in her late teens\, she was an active volunteer at musical events for the USO during WWII. Agnes moved to Connecticut at the end of the war where she met and married Carl Roode Sr.\, also a supporter of the Mystic & Noank Library. Agnes became a stay at home mother to their five children and lovingly cared for her family and their home –a home often filled with the music of that era and the Irish ballads with which Agnes was familiar from her Irish heritage. \nEven in the last years of her life\, Agnes still clearly recalled the tune and lyrics of many of those beloved songs and enjoyed singing along with her family and friends. In her memory\, family members requested donations be made to the Mystic & Noank Library to fund a musical event. \nThanks to generous donations from both family and friends\, the Roode Memorial Concert Series was created to celebrate Agnes and her love of music. With their support\, these concerts are free and open to the public. \nAll concerts are free and held in the Spicer Reading Room on the second floor of the Library. \nThe Mystic & Noank Library is located at 40 Library Street in Mystic\, CT and has an extensive collection of books and media for children\, teens and adults. Library hours are from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday\, and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Parking and entrance on Elm Street.

DESCRIPTION:The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will host a “deluxe” Business After Hours on Thursday\, June 22\, 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Co-hosted by Simply Majestic Jewelers and Import Auto\, the theme is “Luxury Hits the Road.” The event will be held at Import Auto\, 805 Stonington Road\, Stonington. The party celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival (MOAF)\, the oldest festival of its kind in the Northeast. \nFifteen luxurious prizes will be a part of the business card drawing.\nMezza\, Bleu Squid\, Epicure Brewing\, and Cove Ledge Beer\, Wine & Spirits will provide savory bites\, mini cupcakes\, and beverages.\nLocal artist\, Susan Noyes will unveil a commemorative painting for the occasion. Signed prints of the painting will be available for sale.\nProceeds benefit the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival. \nRegistration is encouraged. As a juried art show\, the Art Festival serves an audience of discriminating art enthusiasts; residents and weekend visitors alike. \nThe festival showcases over 250 artists\, with more than two miles of arts and crafts including: oils\, watercolors\, photographs\, pastels\, sculpture\, woodwork\, comics\, acrylics and more.
