SUMMARY:Thursdays Under the Stars at Mystic Seaport Museum
DESCRIPTION:Join us for “Thursdays Under the Stars” where you can experience all that our Planetarium has to offer! Each of our Thursday night programs this fall will have a unique theme\, and that theme will be woven into all of the night’s elements. Each night will feature the following activities:\n– a 30-minute full dome movie projected onto the Planetarium dome. We have secured a collection of award-winning short films\, and each one will have its Mystic Seaport Museum premiere on a Thursday night!\n– a 30-minute live show about the current night’s sky.\n– our young visitors will be invited to collect a take-home craft activity (a different one each week to coincide with the night’s theme)\n– weather permitting\, the night will conclude with an outdoor observing session using the Planetarium’s telescope. \nThese are five separate programs that will happen on Thursday nights\, and each program will run from 7:30-9:00 PM. Experience our original theatrical event “Yuletide Spirits” and learn how ghost stories like “A Christmas Carol” became a staple of winter festivities\, and why they’re now just a spectre of the past. DESCRIPTION:December 2\, 3\, 9\, 10\, 16\, & 17\n5 – 8 p.m. \nLantern Light Village is an outdoor\, free-roaming experience designed to exemplify the differences between the modern and 19th century holiday seasons. Take a journey through time as you seamlessly transition between the holidays you experience today and the holidays of the past. Enjoy festive lighting displays\, live music\, horse and carriage rides\, fire pits\, a visit from St. Nicholas\, and more including holiday themed stories\, crafts\, and games! \nPremiering this year\, Mystic Seaport Museum will be exploring the time-honored tradition of celebrating the holidays with ghost stories! Experience our original theatrical event “Yuletide Spirits” and learn how ghost stories like “A Christmas Carol” became a staple of winter festivities\, and why they’re now just a spectre of the past. As you explore our historic village\, you’ll enjoy classic carols\, master a 19th century dance\, and of course sip hot drinks while listening to chilling tales — but not too hot or too chilling for the whole family to enjoy! \nBe sure to join us for Lantern Light Village “Yuletide Spirits” as we bring to life New England holiday seasons of old in what’s certain to become your next favorite holiday tradition! \nAdmission: \nAdult (Ages 13 and up) $29\, Members $24 \nYouth (Ages 4-12) $24\, Members $19 \nAges 1-3 are free \nPurchase Tickets \nPlease note the following: \n\nHorse and carriage rides last between four and five minutes.\nThis experience is almost entirely outdoors regardless of weather conditions. Dressing in clothes that will keep you warm and dry is a must!\nSome portions of our campus are lit only with kerosene lanterns to provide a 19th-century atmosphere. Bringing an additional personal light source (such as a flashlight or headlamp) is allowed if you feel you need one.\nNo pets are allowed on grounds for this event due to the presence of horses. SUMMARY:Holiday Luminaria at the Nature Center
DESCRIPTION:Experience the peaceful wonder of a walk in the woods lit by the soft glow of more than 500 luminaria\, then warm up by a festive fire with a hot apple cider or or hot chocolate at our trailside Winter Cafe. \nSnacks and adult holiday libations (including spiked peppermint hot chocolate and hot cider with spiced rum) sold separately. \nLuminaria welcomes both children and adults to celebrate the season.Gather with family or friends and start a new holiday tradition\, bring your office for a holiday outing or book a delightful winter date night to enjoy the season. \nGroups are welcome\, we encourage a representative to book group tickets together to ensure space in your desired time slot is available. \nEach of the three evenings includes a featured guest. Ticket price includes hot cider and hot cocoa at our Winter Cafe; adult holiday libation tickets sold separately. \nFRIDAY\, DEC. 9 \nFeatured guests: DPNC Animal Ambassadors \nSome of our resident DPNC animals will join the festivities at the trailside Winter Cafe at Friday evening’s event. Meet our owls and other animals of the forest and learn interesting animal facts while enjoying your post-stroll hot beverages. \nSATURDAY\, DEC 10 \nFeatured guest: Woodland Santa \nBefore or after your walk in the woods\, your little ones are invited to a magical holiday experience full of wonder: a visit with Woodland Santa! Meet Woodland Santa and his elf inside by the fireplace while you capture a holiday photo. \nNote: Woodland Santa is available for visitors to the Saturday 5\, 5:30 & 6 pm time slots only\, then he heads back to his workshop! Nature Center luminaria\, Winter Cafe and outdoor fire are open for all time slots. \nSUNDAY\, DEC 11 \nFeatured guests: Holiday choral singers \nAfter your walk through the glowing luminaria in our winter forest\, settle into our trailside Winter Cafe as the fire roars and the sounds of holiday carols from our featured singers fill the air. \nAdvance ticket purchase is required and space is capped per time slot. \nChoose from six timed entry slots each night. \nMembers: $13.60\, Non-members: $16

SUMMARY:Festival of Lights at Mystic Aquarium
DESCRIPTION:A Mystic holiday tradition that is not to be missed\, the annual Festival of Lights celebration will take place on Friday\, December 9th! From 5pm to 9pm\, Mystic Aquarium will grant free entry with the donation of a non-perishable food item (in lieu of a food item\, cash donations will also be accepted for entry). Aquarium visitors will enjoy the cheer of holiday lights and sounds\, community performances\, diving elves\, a visit from New England Dairy’s Mobile Dairy Bar\, and of course\, many of our Mystic Aquarium animals! Please note that due to construction\, some areas of Mystic Aquarium will be closed\, and the number of guests entering per hour will be limited. \nFood and cash donations are graciously coordinated by Mystic Transportation to benefit the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.
