SUMMARY:Roode Concert Series: Mama Train
DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer for the Mystic & Noank Library’s annual Roode Memorial Concert Series. It’s a series of free outdoor concerts on the grounds of the Mystic & Noank Library. These concerts celebrate the life of Mystic & Noank Library patrons Agnes and Carl Roode. The Roodes were longtime Mystic residents who loved music and the Library. Their family continues the tradition of honoring their legacy with a wonderful lineup of talented musicians in 2023. This summer’s series features three musicians from different genres and musical stylings. Please bring your own lawn chair\, blankets\, or other seating to your comfort level. In the event of rain\, indoor attendance will be limited\, and the Library will welcome the first 50 guests to arrive. \nPerformers Bio\nMama Train celebrates the spirit of the Jazz Age with rich female vocals and dynamic expressive piano. Inspired by early jazz and blues artists like Billie Holiday\, Annette Hanshaw\, and Django Reinhardt\, they perform classics from the 1920s to 1950s. Their soulful melodies and lively instrumentation combine to create a small act with a big vintage sound!

SUMMARY:Outdoor Yoga Classes on the Mystic & Noank Library Lawn
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 15 from 1:00 to 2:00\nSaturday\, July 22 from 1:00 to 2:00\nSaturday\, July 29 from 1:00 to 2:00\nSaturday\, August 5 from 1:00 to 2:00\n \nJoin Chelsea of Bluebird Yoga to practice Physiyoga\, a gentle form of yoga that incorporates mindfulness and some physical therapy-inspired exercises and neuroscience. We will stretch our tight spots and then bring some gentle flowing movement and strengthening into our practice. You will leave feeling taller and lighter\, mentally and physically! Bring your own props if you like them. \nInstructor Bio\nChelsea Hauck\, aka Bluebird Yoga\, is a local from Stonington. Yoga\, for Chelsea\, is about fostering healing through kindness. The goal in her classes is to hold the space for her fellow yogis to cultivate kindness on and off the mat. Chelsea encourages students to take time to feel the pose and make adjustments or modifications as they need. She understands the importance of safe movement and leads students through a practice that builds from gentler modifications through more difficult variations as they increase strength and flexibility. \nRegistration is appreciated for a headcount!

SUMMARY:Flock Theatre Presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream
DESCRIPTION:A Midsummer Night’s Dream\nJuly 14 at 7:00 p.m.\nPerformance Stage\n$15 per person suggested donation. \nFlock Theatre makes its triumphant return to the works of William Shakespeare with A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play\, directed by Derron Wood\, is a fantastical comedy of a love rectangle\, the bickering court of fairies\, a donkey-headed fool\, and more\, set in the forest of ancient Athens. Mystic Seaport Museum’s magical waterfront is a perfect venue to perform this classic tale\, so join Flock Theatre for an evening of fey fun! \nLimited (bench) seating is provided\, but visitors are also welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of rain\, the performance will take place in a covered location on the Museum grounds. Rain location seating is limited and on a first-come\, first-served basis. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.\, and the performance begins at 7:00 p.m. \nFounded in 1989\, Flock Theatre is one of the most adventurous theatre companies in New England. Whether working with the timeless words of Shakespeare\, modern classics such as Eugene O’Neill\, puppet pieces\, teaching in schools\, or conducting their annual Burning of Benedict Arnold Festival\, Flock Theatre is dedicated to creating original\, collaborative\, and educational theatre. Perhaps best known for their long-standing summer Shakespeare in the Arboretum\, Flock Theatre performs year-round in a variety of venues\, including Mitchell College\, the historic Shaw Mansion\, in the streets of New London and throughout New England.
