You are going to have a wicked good time!\nContra dancing is informal\, with easily-learned dance steps taught by a caller. You do not need to bring a partner with you\, as it is customary to switch partners after each dance.\n● CALLER: Chris Ricciotti. Chris started as a traditional square dancer in 4-H in 1979 and soon became a caller for competition through the same. We are SO excited to invite you to come join us for a delightful night of contra dancing\, Saturday February the 26th!\n**We mingle at 7:30 and have a welcoming-beginner’s lesson at 7:45 if you’re new to contra dancing or y’know\, if you’d like a refresher\, or to help other folks remember after a two-year hiatus\, or settle back into the dance hall vibe gradually :-) Then\, dancing to live music 8:00 – 11:00 pm!\n● CALLER: Rich Sbardella from CT\, has extensive experience as a dance leader. He has become a master of timing and phrasing his calls. This allowed the dancers the enjoyment of dancing to the phrase.\n● MUSIC: “Wry Bred” features Robert Messore on guitar\, Mickey Koth on fiddle and Julie Sorcek on flute and saxophone. Their style engages in joyful musical conversations with driving rhythms and exuberant harmonies. no matter how you slice it! Their music sensitively supports dancers and callers alike. The band was founded in 2009 and has been playing at dances\, concerts\, private parties\, and other events ever since.\n● COVID: Required to enter the hall: Masks and Proof of Vaccination (2 shots or 1 of J&J) OR Negative Covid test within 48 hours. Bring a water bottle!\n● ADMISSION: $10\, students $7\, families $25\, under twelve $2.\n● FOOD: We offer home-made Cherry and Custard Pie slices at the break. $3.00 per slice goes to the band and caller. DESCRIPTION:Join the Mystic & Noank Library for an outdoor concert featuring members of the clarinet section of the U.S. Coast Guard Band. The United States Coast Guard Clarinet Quartet has regularly performed recitals and masterclasses for audiences across the nation\, including at such venues as Carnegie Hall\, conferences held by the International Clarinet Association\, and at universities throughout New England. The Quartet’s members include Chief Musician (MUC) Chantal Hovendick\, Musician First Class (MU1) Christopher Howard\, MU1 Steven Zhang\, and MU1 Robert Durie. The group exhibits many musical styles including light classical and jazz transcriptions and will present a program entitled “Sounds of America” which focuses on American composers and themes including works by Gershwin\, Copland\, and “The American String Quartet” by Antonin Dvorak arranged for clarinets. DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer for the Mystic & Noank Library’s annual Roode Memorial Concert Series. It’s a series of free outdoor concerts on the grounds of the Mystic & Noank Library. These concerts celebrate the lives of Mystic & Noank Library patrons Agnes and Carl Roode. The Roodes were longtime Mystic residents who loved music and the Library. Their family continues the tradition of honoring their legacy with a wonderful lineup of talented musicians in 2021. He’s been a member of the Stephane Wrembel Band since 2015\, performing the music of Django Reinhardt along with Wrembel’s original compositions all over the U.S. and the world\, on stage and in the studio. His solo shows blend his original music\, instrumentals\, and some of his favorite songs\, with a strong presence of the American songbook. In 1972\, Bobby’s big break came after re-locating to Laurel\, Mississippi\, replacing drummer Keith Thibodeaux who had just left ‘David & the Giants’. The group was touring non-stop while Bobby’s reputation kept on growing. \nThe number of bands and musicians Bobby T has worked with over the years reads like a “Who’s Who” of the music business. With no signs of slowing down\, he appears busier than ever before. ‘T’ is presently gigging with four different groups. The Sin Sisters. 8 And Up\, Fairly Famous\, and the Jay Willie Blues Band. Thunderhead has also recorded a new album entitled ‘Alive Again’ with the title track written by Bobby T Torello. Bobby’s longevity in a tough business is a testament to his dedication and love for music. Like any professional musician\, he has had to overcome a few obstacles along the way. None of these have prevented him from achieving his rightful place in drumming history.

SUMMARY:Roode Memorial Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer for the Mystic & Noank Library’s annual Roode Memorial Concert Series. It’s a series of free outdoor concerts on the grounds of the Mystic & Noank Library. These concerts celebrate the lives of Mystic & Noank Library patrons Agnes and Carl Roode. The Roodes were longtime Mystic residents who loved music and the Library. Their family continues the tradition of honoring their legacy with a wonderful lineup of talented musicians in 2021. This summer’s series features three local musicians from different genres and musical stylings. Social distance guidelines will be in place for everyone’s safety. In the event of inclement weather\, the concert will take place indoors in the Spicer Reading Room. Indoor attendance will be limited and the library will welcome the first 25 guests to arrive. No registration is necessary. \nThor Jensen: Thursday\, June 17 at 6:30pm\nThor Jensen is a guitarist and singer based in New England. He’s been a member of the Stephane Wrembel Band since 2015\, performing the music of Django Reinhardt along with Wrembel’s original compositions all over the U.S. and the world\, on stage and in the studio. His solo shows blend his original music\, instrumentals\, and some of his favorite songs\, with a strong presence of the American songbook. In 2019\, Thor released an EP of original music\, and has another full length record to be released later this year. His performance will take listeners on a tour of American music on fiddle\, bano\, and guitar through the range of 19th and early 20th century styles that laid the groundwork for American popular music. Her music is pure memory\, meditation\, and escapism\, streaked with tones of jazz\, along with fresh twists on folk music.
