DESCRIPTION:Sign up is by the following age groups:\nExplorers (ages 4 to 6)\nScientists (ages 7 to 9)\nAdventurers (ages 10-13)\nAnimal Curators (ages 13-15)*\nOur science-based curriculum introduces students to the wonders of the natural world. New topics are covered each week through hands-on activities\, meeting live animals\, games and time for nature play and socialization. Sign up for one or all of the classes. Classes have a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 14. There are two teachers per age group. Please bring a snack and water bottle to each class. Be prepared to go outside in all weather conditions! \n*Please note that our Animal Curator Program does not follow the same curriculum as above. Students are immersed in hands-on activities working with our resident and rehabilitating wildlife. Activities include cleaning and setting up tanks\, providing enrichment activities for wildlife and learning more about the care of wild and resident animals. Students alternate animal care tasks with hikes\, nature journaling and other group activities at DPNC. This program is limited to 6 students and has one instructor. Tod has been calling contras and squares for more than 40 years. He is a favorite dance caller and the founder of the “NEFFA Thursday Night Contra Dance” back in the late 1970s. Tod Whittemore is well-known for his yodeling squares. This will be quite a treat!\n● LIVE MUSIC: “Dogtown”. comprised of Becky Miller (fiddle piano) and Norb Spencer (accordion) and possibly one other.\n● HOMEMADE PIE! This month we offer cherry and chocolate pies! These delicious pies are offered at the break for $3/slice help support the band and caller.\n● COVID: We require sign-in and contact information for notification. Vaccinations are encouraged though not required. Masks: are optional and always welcome.\n● ADMISSION: $10 adults $7 students. & Donations gratefully accepted!\n● CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual layers are best for this invigorating exercise. When was the last time I’d danced myself? It occurred to me that dancing could be an ideal spring reset activity.” – Melissa Kirsch – New York Times “The Morning” (excerpt).\nCome enjoy an ideal spring reset activity! Dancing to live music! You are going to have a wicked good time!\nContra dancing is informal\, with easily-learned dance steps taught by a caller. You do not need to bring a partner with you\, as it is customary to switch partners after each dance.\n● CALLER: Chris Ricciotti. Chris started as a traditional square dancer in 4-H in 1979 and soon became a caller for competition through the same. His specialties are teaching and calling contras and traditional squares\, international folk dancing\, English and Scottish Country Dancing.\n● MUSIC: Dogtown.
