DESCRIPTION:STONINGTON LITERARY FESTIVAL \nJAMES MERRILL CENTENNIAL \nOctober 2–4\, 2026 | Stonington\, Connecticut \nA three-day celebration of the life\, work\, and legacy of James Merrill featuring renowned writers\, scholars\, musicians\, including many former Merrill Fellows. Next weekend\, more than 300 attendees and 40+ presenters will gather in Stonington for 30 events across seven venues\, including readings\, conversations\, workshops\, literary tours\, a concert\, a pop-up bookstore\, and more. It will be quite a weekend! \nCan’t make it to Stonington? Join us online! Many events will be live streamed. \nWe will be livestreaming our La Grua Center events on the James Merrill House YouTube channel\, including several events that are sold out in person. During the month of March\, the Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites children to search for leprechaun footprints at the library. Pick up a tally sheet at the front desk and count the number of footprints you find. Return your tally sheet to the librarian for a prize! Participants can play on multiple days if they like. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate all things mushroom at the Wild Mushroom Festival on Sunday\, October 4! \nLearn about mushroom hunting and identification through woodland walks and talks with naturalists\, foragers\, and mushroom experts. Expand your knowledge at the mushroom identification table while exploring tastes of mushroom-themed food and drink from local chefs. Browse the expanded Mushroom Marketplace\, with artists\, mycologists\, foragers\, crafters\, growers\, and chefs offering items for sale. We will also have a local tattoo artist pop-up offering mushroom-themed designs and live music to enjoy while exploring the festival. \nEntry begins promptly at 12 pm and the festival runs until 4 pm.
