Pick up a tally sheet at the front desk and count the number of footprints you find. Return your tally sheet to the librarian for a prize! Participants can play on multiple days if they like. Self-acceptance\, deep relaxation\, tranquility\, peace and lightness are how participants feel after a session. \nPamala Lewis has been studying Eastern and Western approaches to meditation and enjoys the benefits of a dedicated daily sitting practice for more than 25 years. She co-leads the New London Community of Mindfulness\, guides 2 weekly Zoom groups\, and offers individual coaching sessions in Somatic Mindfulness Meditation. Pamala also offers Somatic Mindfulness Meditation along with Back Yoga outdoors through the summer months. \nThis class is for beginners\, those who might be struggling with mindfulness meditation and those who may enjoy a friendly\, relaxed and body-centered approach to practice. \nThe Zoom meeting link will be in your confirmation email after you register.

DESCRIPTION:Bank Square Books presents an author talk and signing with Gail MacDonald for her book\, Abolitionists of the Northeast: Black Leaders in the Antislavery Movement. \nRegister \nAbout the Book \nAbolitionists of the Northeast profiles the little-known yet historically prolific Black figures who actively participated in the abolitionist movement in America. The movement\, which began in the 1820s in Northeastern America\, was about ending slavery in the United States.\nHistory books have long emphasized the lives and work of Harriet Tubman\, Frederick Douglass\, and Thomas Garrett\, but it’s no secret that the most influential Black advocates are missing from the pages of our textbooks. This book offers intimate profiles of 29 Black abolitionists in the Northeast along with historical black and white photographs that give readers a full picture of who these people were\, the work they did to combat the nation’s greatest sin\, and how their legacy has lived on.\nFrom the underrated to the overlooked\, Abolitionists of the Northeast educates readers on the most influential advocates in the earliest beginnings of the United States’ anti-slavery movement. \nAbout the Author \nGail B. MacDonald is a recently retired University of Connecticut journalism professor; a veteran\, award-winning journalist and the author of three history books. She regularly leads history-themed tours for Uncovering New London; One Story at a Time and at the historic Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London and formerly was a docent and developer of history tours for the Thames River Heritage Park. She is president of the Rotary Club of New London\, through which she is active in community service. She lives in New London.
