11/20/2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

“What is a seed? Seeds are our past, our present, and our future. Seeds are our ancestors and our future generations. We are humbled by the seed.” -Unknown

Diane Wilson, award winning author and Executive Director for the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance (NAFSA), will discuss Native American seeds & explore our evolving relationship with indigenous gardens to contemporary farming. She will also discuss exciting work being done today by Native organizations to reclaim & grow indigenous seeds as a form of cultural recovery and to provide food and rebuild health to these communities. A Dakota writer, Diane is a Mdewakanton descendent and enrolled on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. She lives in Minnesota. Her recent publication, The Seed Keeper, is available at your local library, or by ordering a signed copy through Bank Square Books, Savoy Bookshop & Cafe, or Title IX: A Bookstore.
