Happy 100th, Mystic Drawbridge!

The Mystic River Bascule Bridge, the oldest of its kind in the United States, turned 100 on July 19th, 2022!

Celebrate this momentous year for Downtown Mystic’s centerpiece with the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce and its partners.

Saturday, October 15th

Head to Mystic River Park at 2pm and be a part of history as community leaders and special guests honor the oldest Bascule Bridge in the United States.

Then gather along the banks of the Mystic River where the Fireworks Celebration, sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino, takes place at 8:15pm.

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce has established a temporary Visitor’s Center through Fall 2022. Visit to see a poster presentation of the bridge, a trivia display, and Signature Bridge Anniversary items for purchase.

The Bridge Trail

Stores and businesses have dedicated a portion of the sales on one of their products to help fund Bridge Anniversary events AND help build the Bridge Scholarship Fund available to students at Stonington High School, Fitch High School, and Westerly High School.
