MNL 125th Anniversary Program: An Evening With The Gillettes

April 25 @ 7:00 pm

Rescheduled from original date of March 21

The Nivers Give a Performance about the Gillette Family, Gillette Castle, and Sherlock Holmes!
Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at Union Baptist Church.

Not only do Harold and Theodora Niver talk about William & Helen Gillette, they become the Gillettes, flitting back and forth between being presenters and portrayers.

Who was William Gillette? What was his connection to the greatest fictional detective of all time? Was Sherlock Holmes fact…or fiction?

Since both Harold and Theodora are professional musicians, you will also hear several songs from the English Music Hall era.

Be prepared to be educated and entertained!

Hosted by the Union Baptist Church, 119 High St., Mystic, 06355

We thank our neighbors at the Union Baptist Church for providing their sanctuary space to enable us to present this performance to the public. This program is free and open to the public; no registration is required.

In 2018, the Mystic & Noank Library is celebrating its 125 year of continuous service to the greater Mystic community. In 1891, Captain Elihu Spicer of Mystic and Brooklyn, NY announced plans to build a library across the street from his summer home (now Spicer Mansion) on Elm Street, Mystic for the communities of Mystic and Noank. Sadly, Capt. Spicer died prior to the formal ceremonies opening the Library on January 23, 1894. His sister, Mrs. Sarah Dickinson, carried out the Captain’s wishes and furnished the library with a starting collection of 4000 of the Captain’s books. We are proud to continue Captain Spicer’s mission of providing a free lending library, and now so much more, to the residents of Southeastern CT.
